What’s new in 2017?
The RED ROCKS Challenge (Formerly know as the RED ROCKS Gran Fondo, RED ROCKS Century and the HEALING WHEELS Ride) is now part of the DEATH RIDE Tour Inc., Charity Cycling Events, which was established in 2009 and has donated over $240,000 to worthwhile charities to support ALS Research.
Why is it called a Challenge?
By definition a challenge is “a task or situation that tests someone’s abilities”. The RED ROCKS Challenge certainly meets these criteria with 6300 feet of climbing over 62 miles with some hills that briefly exceed 12% grades. The two other courses 50 & 30 miles also gives the participant a challenging course within the designated mileage.
What’s changed from last year (besides the name, logo, and Managing Company)?
Well really not too much more. The RRC will still use PRIMAL as our event gear supplier and we’ll be adding more gear available besides just a jersey. The RRC will be a fund raising event with each adult participant is required to raise a minimum of $300 by ride day September 2, 2017. Fund Raising Pages can be set up through imathlete – click here
Children’s Fund Raising commitment is $50 by ride day, September 2, 2017 also.
Is this still a charity-based event?
